Several Pensacola Beach Volleyball Club teams took part in the second annual Randy Pounders Memorial Open Tournament last weekend at UWF. The U13 team won all three of its pool play matches before losing a close one to Volleyball Pensacola Black in the semifinals.
The 13s beat the Mobile Storm OJ 25-21, 25-21, Volleyball Pensacola Green 25-15, 14-25, 15-10 and Bomba Line 25-11, 25-12 before losing to Volleyball Pensacola Black 25-23, 25-21.
The 14s National team went 1-2 in pool play before losing in the first round of the single elimination tournament to Bomba Line. They lost to the Mobile Storm Kari 25- 23, 26-24 before beating Mississippi's Dig It 25-6, 25-11 and Bay Area 25-12, 25-18.
The 14s Regional team lost two and tied one in pool play. The U15s went 1-2 in pool play. They beat Eastern Shore Blue 20-25, 25-23, 15-9, before losing to Volleyball Pensacola Black 25-8, 25-18 and Bay Area 25-18, 25-19.
The U16s went 3-1 in pool play and finished fourth. They beat Gulf Coast Select Layne 25-21, 25-15 before beating Storm Jem 25-17, 25-23. They lost to Eastern Shore Black 21-25, 23-25 before beating Eastern Shore Blue 25-15, 25-27, 17-15.
The 16s, in a three-way tie between them and the Eastern Shore teams, played in a playoff, which they lost 25-10. PBVC will host a tournament next weekend. Look for a preview of that tournament in next week’s issue.
